Intel released the Perceptual Cam, an infra-red camera that recognizes gestures and faces. As a showcase, Intel challenged Headcandy to create an innovative application prototype using natural human interfaces such as gestures, voice, and facial tracking.
Using the Intel Perceptual Computing SDK and the Creative Interactive Gesture Camera Kit, Headcandy used its imagination and technical skill to show Intel, and the world, possibilities for the next frontier of human and computer interaction.
The Headcafé application enables customers in a coffee shop to order coffee from a distance using only finger gestures and complete monetary transactions by means of facial recognition. Also, the application can give suggestions based on earlier purchases. The prototype was received enthusiastically and has since been showcased on Intel events in various forms and shapes.
